Neighborhood Place of Kona

Mission
The Mission of the Neighborhood Place of Kona is to ensure the safety and well being of our children. With Kona as our Piko (center), we promote environments of peace and safety that build resilient children and strong families who in turn develop caring communities.

Sharing of Mana'o
NPK uses a "talk story" approach in hopes of making a connection and establishing a lasting relationship with families and individuals we serve. We are a Pu'uhonua (place of safety and peace), where everyone is welcome to share their mana'o (thoughts) regarding the welfare of children and families.

Family Strengthening
In the process of building relationships and sharing ideas, families will:
• Increase knowledge of child development and parenting
• Develop social supports
• Increase coping skills
• Strengthen family relationships
• Improve problem-solving abilities

Community Outreach
NPK seeks to build and support a stronger community through:
• Community "talk story" sessions
• Ke Ala Kupono Hawaiian values activities
• Participation in Hui Laulima Council Trainings and Workshops
• April Child Abuse Prevention Month
• Tutu's Closet
• Collaboration with Other Agencies
